Make Money Microtasking

Amazon Mechanical Turk  got the ball rolling and the copycat syndrome kicked in with others wanting to cash in on the latest craze. Along comes Fiverr with a new and improved twist to the Microtasking idea. As with every other popular idea, Fiverr has plenty of copycats as well.

Who wants to make money Microtasking? Who knows what Microtasking is? I suppose I better catch up the slackers on what Microtasking is before I start rambling about how to make money Microtasking.

Simply put, Microtasking is outsourcing small projects. Microtasks are usually projects that take little time but can interrupt the productivity of the main project thus outsourcing becomes a desirable solution. Microtasks can be anything from data entry to link building to video creation and editing to article writing. The variety of Microtasks or Gigs as Fiverr calls them is astounding.

So, how can someone make money Microtasking? First of all, there are two sides to the Microtasking industry, actually three sides if you count the Microtasking agency such as Fiverr. There is the person doing the tasks and the person having the tasks done. There is money to be made on both sides of the Microtasking industry. I don’t recommend trying to become a Microtasking agency, as the market is saturated with them and since Fiverr is at the top of the list, most of the other Microtasking agencies are struggling to even get noticed let alone make a profit. Where you want to be in this little labor triangle is in the middle either getting the work done or doing the work.

Make Money Microtasking

If you have some skills, talents, or unique ideas, then you will probably have something to offer as a worker and be able to make money microtasking. As mentioned before, Fiverr is the number one site when it comes to Microtasking, and at the bottom of this post you can find a substantial list of other Microtask sites you can look into. Fair warning, it is common for scammers to create professional looking sites that offer users opportunities, and when it comes time to pay the users, the money never comes. There are plenty of legitimate sites out there, I am just saying, I have not tested all of them and do not guarantee any of them. Fiverr is your best bet as it is well established and has great reviews.

When you browse the Gigs and Gig requests on Fiverr you will get an idea of the vast variety of things people will do and want done for just $5. Sure, $5 does not sound like much and that is because it is not. The key is quantity. If you want to make good money on Fiverr you need a few things.

Unique – Your Gig needs to stand out and be unique but it also has to be useful. Just because someone else is getting a bunch of orders with a certain Gig or Task does not mean that you should try to duplicate their Gig. There is plenty of that going on already and your duplicate Gig (even if it is reworded with a unique title and description) will just be lost in the sea of other similar Gigs.

Quality – Your work has to be top notch, high quality work. I know it is only $5 but if you do bad work, you will get bad reviews and bad news spreads faster than good news. Your adventures in Microtasking will be short lived if you do poor work.

Volume – If you are going to make enough money to make your work time worth while, you need volume. You need to perform hundred or even thousands of tasks. That means you don’t want to create Gigs that are going to take you more time to do than what you think your time is worth. Note: Fiverr is going to take a $1 commission from every $5 task you do which means you will be getting paid $4 per task. Yes, Fiverr does offer some price variations allowing add-ons that can increase the cost of your task, but Fiverr still gets their commission.

If you are willing to settle for $8 per hour, then your tasks should not take you any longer than 30 minutes to complete. Some times to get a client (buyer) you have to take one for the team. This means that from time to time you may have to put in more time, much more time than you would like to get your little $4 fee. The hook is that you do great work and gain a customer that respects you and recommends you to others.

More Volume

Working for $8 per hour or less is not going to make you rich, in fact it probably won’t even pay the bills. So you need more tools in your Microtasking toll box. You need more volume and less time. Your tool is templates. Yep, you need to create Gigs or Tasks that you can build templates for, allowing you to maximize your productivity. The best example I can provide would be the famous “Intro Video” Gig seen so often on Fiverr. What this consists of is creating a quality 30 or 40 second video with great graphics and great sound with some text. If you are a video editor then you know that the program you use to create this video allows you to open the video template and simply edit the text. It’s a template that once finished only takes a few minutes at most to modify your customers text and your done. Once the ground work is done, you can get paid $4 over and over for just a few minutes of work. Templates are your key to maximizing volume and minimizing time.

To make money microtasking you need to offer something (product or service) of quality that other people want or need and you need to streamline the process with templates to maximize your earnings versus time spent working.

Make Money Outsourcing

The second side of the Microtasking industry is having Gigs, Tasks, or Projects done for you via outsourcing. How can I make money paying someone to do something for me? Well, every business in the world does it. That means you need to have some sort of business, product, service or otherwise means for making money. You hire others to do certain tasks for you that in turn increases productivity and/or profit.

There’s a Gig For That!

Let’s say you have a website that offers a product or service but sales are slow or even nonexistent. Why are sales low? If you do not know the answer to that, it is probable that you could hire someone for a few dollars ($5 to be exact from Fiverr) to assess your site and give you a detailed and professional review of what changes you could make. If you know the reason sales are low such as not enough traffic, there’s a Gig for that to.

Need some SEO? There’s a Gig for that. Need a new logo? There’s a Gig for that. Need more content on your site? There’s a Gig for that. On Fiverr you will find a Gig for just about anything, and if you can’t find one that fits your needs, just use the handy “Request Gigs” feature.

If you want more information and details about making money microtasking, you are just going to have to wait until I finish my extended ebook. I will link to it from here when it is finished and I will also include it in my products and services section of the site. I had planned to have it finished by now, but the amount of information and resources I have decided to include is just ridiculous, so it is taking longer than I wanted. I will be restricting the number of copies for the first release to just 100 per state (United States – 50 states- 5000 copies). I know I will be able to limit the overall quantity to 5000, but restricting by state will most likely mean that I will have to issue some refunds because I am pretty sure my distributer does not have state by state restrictions.

If you would like to be notified of the release of my ebook, just use the Contact form and include “ebook release” in the message box.

Happy Microtasking!

5 Interesting and Useful Websites

I spend a good deal of time on the internet doing research for various projects I am working on. During the course of my research I almost always end up finding something that I was not looking for which starts a new research project and thus the infinite circle is created.

I have randomly selected 5 websites that I hope you will find interesting, useful, and/or entertaining.

1. Fiverr.comThe place for people to share things they’re willing to do for $5.

Signing up for an account with Fiverr is fast, free, and easy. Once you have an account you can either create “Gigs”, buy “Gigs”, or you can even request “Gigs”. A “Gig” is simply an offer to do something for $5 and you will be amazed at what people will do for $5.

Fiverr.com – has a very simple fee structure keeping $1 out of each $5 Gig. Want someone to sing you happy birthday on video? How about send you a postcard from Indonesia? Want someone to hand draw a portrait of you from a photograph? The list goes on and on, from the very professional to the artistic to the just plain weird, it’s all on Fiverr.com.

2. TED.com – Ideas worth spreading. TED is for: Technology Entertainment Design.

TED.com is the video hosting place for all the TED conference videos featuring some of the brightest, gifted, talented, and inspirational people from all around the world. The idea behind TED was to bring together some of the worlds best thinkers and doers to share what they have to say in 18 minutes or less and then share it with the world.

On TED.com you will find some videos that are just entertainment, but most videos will be informative, inspiring, and at times, completely jaw-dropping. Often times, new technology is presented on the TED stage before it is ever seen anywhere else in the world, sometimes coming straight from the lab it was developed in.

3. FreeVideoLectures.com – Bringing Free Education to All.

Ever wanted to get your learn on but college just was not your thing? FreeVideoLectures.com has over 800 online courses, more than 19,000 videos from over 30 of the top Universities in more than 35 different categories. Oh yeah, if the name did not give it away, it’s all completely free, you don’t even have to sign up or sign in, just click and play.

Sure, it’s not an actual college course and your not going to get college credits, but if you want to learn at the college level, there are some great videos here.

4. TRUECRYPT.org – Free Open Source On The Fly Encryption.

Ok, so the TrueCrypt.org website is not the most intriguing or entertaining, but it is what they offer and for free no less. If you do not know what encryption software is, it is software that allows you to secure electronic files (files on your computer or any device that can hold electronic files) in such a way that they are unreadable and completely useless unless you have the software and password to open them.

If you have files and folders on your system that you would like to keep private from prying eyes, this software will do the trick for you. A little history lesson on the encryption industry.

Several years ago the United States Government was in the market for some new encryption technology, so they held a contest. The contest rules were simple, gives us the very best encryption worthy of the United States Government and we will give you the contract. True Crypt uses the exact same encryption software that the top 3 runners in the contest used. It’s the type of encryption software that the FBI would struggle to crack if they could crack it at all.

I’m not saying you have anything on your system you need to hide from the FBI, but almost everyone has something they would like to keep private and this software will help you do that.

5. BulkFoods.com – Wholesale Bulk Foods, Chocolates, Candy, Nuts and Spices.

BulkFoods.com is one of my favorite places for ordering goodies. They have a huge selection and most of their prices are very reasonable. When I buy protein powder, I get it from BulkFoods.com because gram for gram pure protein, BulkFoods.com is the cheapest I have found anywhere.

They have: nuts, seeds, grains, dried fruits, spices, herbs, chocolates, candies, and loads of other great items.

Each of these sites are worth checking out if just once.

Internet Income | Why I Choose It

Why do I choose internet income over a traditional income?

Many times while talking with friends, family, or acquaintances the question of why to do business online or any business at all comes up. Why not just work for someone else? Isn’t there a lot of competition online? Isn’t it difficult to start your own business? Many people actually tell me they would rather work for someone else than run their own business. Let someone else deal with all the headaches.

For me, I find the way of thinking mentioned above to be a little strange. I understand this thought process generally comes from a lack of understanding of what it takes to start and run a business. What I don’t understand is why some people will reject the idea out of hand and not even try to understand the potential of earning an income online.

I have decided to list some of my opinions and experiences of earning an income online. What most people do not know about the internet is that it has almost all of the same opportunities as the offline world as well as a whole new group of opportunities that are not available in the offline world.

Why would anyone want to run their own business? Why would anyone want to be their own boss? I had always thought the answers to these questions were self-evident. I suppose the answers could be different for everyone. For me, being my own boss and earning an income online is all about making my own rules. I get to decide what to do, when to do it, how often I do it, and how much I get paid to do it.

So why would anyone else want to earn money online? What if I have a great career working for someone else? Well, I am not here to try and talk anyone out of a great career and into the world of online entrepreneurial business. If you are completely satisfied with your career choice and have no desires to be the owner, the shot caller, and the rule maker, then more power to you. But what about those of you that are tired of someone else making the rules for you? How would you like to decide the hours you work, the type of work you do, and how you are compensated for you time?

Here are a few simple facts about earning money that will help get the ball rolling. Anytime money changes hands it will fall under one of four categories.

  1. Providing a product
  2. Providing a service
  3. Investing
  4. Wild card (Lottery, Inheritance, Gifts, etc…)

As far as earning an income, you can strike number 4 from the list and stick with providing a product, providing a service, or investing. We will call these three PSI and as for earning an income whether it is online or offline, the PSI are the very foundation, the starting point.

The ultimate benefit of being your own boss is when you can find a way to earn a living through providing a product, providing a service, investing, or any combination thereof, doing something you enjoy, doing something you would do for free. How would you like to get paid to do something you would do for free, for entertainment, as a hobby, for recreation?

If you are like the majority of the people on this planet, then you spend most of your time doing something that is either earning money, trying to earn money, or spending money. Almost everything we do is in someway related to our ability to earn money. The roof over our head, the light on the ceiling, the car in the drive, the food in the cupboards, the clothes in the closet, the internet, phone, computer, water, and the list goes on forever. We work to make money so we can spend the money. The ability to earn money is overwhelmingly important, so why not earn money doing something we enjoy?

Earning an income online does not mean that you have to setup a full blown business with company offices, executive meetings, and a board of trustees. Of course, if you want to start the next multibillion dollar online business, that is possible too. The point is that earning an income online does not have to be complex. There are many, one person operations that bring in very impressive online incomes without setting up huge operations.

A person could setup a simple site that offers products and/or services in a niche market and make a comfortable living working only part-time. Maybe investing is your thing, well there is plenty of that to be done online as well. Many people hire their services out as freelance work online and do very well with that. Doing freelance work really has its advantages when you consider it is simply a service and the overhead is virtually zero.

Some people use drop-shipping or affiliate programs to earn their money which means no inventory and nothing to ship. Just market the products or services and collect your checks. There are thousands of ways to earn a nice income online and enjoy it too. The benefit does not always have to be about money, how about peace of mind and happiness.

Welcome

If you happen to be viewing Mostever.com around the time of this posting (July 26th – 2011) then you will most likely notice some inaccuracies in the navigation. The site was just recently made live to run tests and work out certain issues with the new theme.

Very soon I will be adding content and more pages. It’s a work in progress, and I hope you return often to see what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen.
